2009 in Review

Each member of the Post family has had an active year in their own way. With such a busy year, our Post Family Web Album is pretty full. If you would like to just see the highlights, please click on the underlined text within this letter. If you want to see all of the pictures from this year, go here. I do update the Web Album frequently so feel free to book mark the link.

Tori is now three and a half. As a reward for being a big girl and using the potty, she got her ears pierced right before the 4th of July. She spent a lot of time this summer visiting grandparents, camping, making day trips to the beach, visiting Tim's cousins in Seattle, and going to the park. The day after Labor Day Tori was very excited to start pre-school. She gets to sing, color, cut, glue, and be around other kids. It's a good outlet for her to get some energy out. She recently had her first school concert (for Christmas). It was a lot of fun listening to her 'rehearse' the songs at home.

Tim is still working at UL. He tests products, writes reports, and does some code writing in his 'spare time'. Sailing has been put on the back burner for a couple of years. Instead, he has picked up painting miniatures for gaming, and writes elaborate and detailed story lines for a role playing game we play with friends. He has become involved enough that he has been published on a blog, and has helped demo for a game company at a local gaming convention.

I took a 'break' from photography and the business this year to restructure the services I provide. I ended up doubling my clients from last year. It will be interesting to see my client base after making an effort to advertise and network next year.

So, you may be wondering, "Why take a break from sailing? Why take a break from the home business?" Well, we found out in February we were going to have baby number two. This time around I was TIRED. The house seems to have gotten smaller since Tori was born so some rearranging was done to accommodate a fourth family member. Several home projects were done by Tim to accommodate my nesting.

So our little MVP (Matthew V Post) was born at 12:15PM on October 29. He weighed 8.5 pounds and was just under 22 inches long. We did have a few sleepless nights, but overall since we had already been through it, I think this time has been easier and we have been calmer about spit-up and dirty diapers.

As a family we get together with friends every couple of weeks to play video and board games. Our anniversary gift to ourselves was to attend the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle. This gaming convention was SOLD OUT before it even started. We got to see quite a few games before their release (such as Beatles Rock Band), listen to some nerdy music, and listen to people like Wil Wheaton and Bill Amend (Fox Trot cartoonist). Tori didn't miss us too much since she was able to stay with Tim's aunt and uncle in Seattle and play with their two daughters all weekend. Even with school starting the day after we got home from Seattle, Tori didn't stop talking about the trip for a week.

The second part of our anniversary gift was getting Beatles Rock Band. Friends and family joined us to try out the new game. Even with our music backgrounds, harmonies are HARD! We did get a laugh though when Tori got a hold of a microphone and started humming harmonies IN TUNE.

Now on to 2010.
